Common questions
When does billing start for device plans?
Not until your device is installed and online. You pay for the hardware upfront, but the subscription only starts once your electrician connects the device and it calls home to Warden.
What hardware is required?
The PowerWarden is a 25A smart relay — the same hardware used in commercial load management. Your electrician installs it in your switchboard in about 20 minutes. No hub, no local server.
Does a device plan include Smart features?
Yes — both device plans include full API and Home Assistant access. You don't need a separate Smart subscription if you have a device plan.
Can I cancel at any time?
Smart plan subscribers can cancel any time from their account page — access continues until the end of the current billing period, no partial refunds. Device plans (Schedule and Spot) have a 12-month minimum term, since the subscription price is subsidised by the cost of the PowerWarden hardware.
What if I need to cancel a device plan early?
Device plans are billed monthly or annually but committed for 12 months from activation. Cancelling before your minimum term is up incurs an early cancellation fee. Once your 12 months are complete, you can cancel any time with no fee.
